I'm assuming that you are targeting members of the canid family. Yes, snaring is, in my opinion, the easiest way.
If you cannot use snare then bedding foot holds can be a challenge. You can remove the snow to bed in the ground (waxed dirt/peat moss as trap covers) but chipping out the bed is rough. You can bed in snow by stabilizing with soft wood boughs or making hay sets.
You can use something called perlite which was described in a recent FFG article. I'm trying it on one set right now. The trap does not SEEM frozen up but the fox has not worked the set. It knows the set is there ....
No matter which way you use, trapping in deep snow with footholds is a challenge.

when i say cats and dogs i mean bobcats and canines.
Edit..Here we assume that people actually mean what they type. There is no way for us to tell that you are assigning a different meaning to some of the words you use.Coyotes and Bobcats are fur bearers that we try to help you trap.Cats and Dogs are domestics that we will do our best to help you avoid..
